African Americans Work

Brownfield Developers & Contractors Protege Initiative

Man of Color Lack Work, Why?

  • CENSORSHIP
  • DISRESPECT
  • GREED
  • GROSS DISPARITIES
  • INSENSITIVITY
  • LACK OF LEADERSHIP W/MORAL AUTHORITY
  • LACK OF PACKAGED DEVELOPMENT TIED TO THE SUSTAINABILITY OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD
  • MARGINALIZED
  • PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE
  • UNDER-EMPLOYMENT
  • UNEMPLOYMENT

….yet we wonder why there is high crime AND unacceptable behavior on the rise in People of Color and the Working Poor neighborhoods of Milwaukee.

WAQ/We ask questions.

  • Did you know that Milwaukee’s Inner City population bring MILLIONS of dollars each year and it never get to the people it comes to serve?
  • Did you know that Milwaukee’s Inner City has some of the riches development land opportunities in Milwaukee?
  • Did you know that Waukesha contractors and developers get more funding from the City of Milwaukee than Milwaukeeans, and for People of Color, the ones that bring the massive funds, tax credits, brownfield dollars, they can not get serious dialog and leadership commitment for change?
  • Did you know that the majority population of Milwaukee is that of People of Color and the Working Poor - Middle Class, homeless, underemployed, unemployed, disabled?
  • Did you know that some census tracts in Milwaukee have UNEMPLOYMENT at 65%?
  • Did you know that WORKERS, DEVELOPERS and CONTRACTORS are “imported” into the poverty-stricken neighborhood with the blessings of WHEDA, Mayor Barrett, Common Council President Willie Hines and the the Common Council?
  • Did you know that the Mayor of Milwaukee leads the pack of Milwaukee 7?
  • Did you know that the Milwaukee 7 is exclusively Caucasian-based but making decisions on behalf of People of Color taxpayers?
  • Go to the “Open for Business” website of the Milwaukee 7 and see for yourself.
  • Did you know that Columbia Savings and Loan, Fond du Lac & North, the oldest African American Financial Institution refused to do “due diligence” and see that that African Americans, their No. 1 client was hire. Instead, they IMPORTED a developer from Plymouth (who would not meet with us to discuss their lack of hiring and importing of workers). The developer imported other from outside of the city and/or non-People of Color for the project?
  • They said they could not find anybody? Do you believe that?
  • What do you think the People should do to remind them of their egregious/gross act?

Did you know there are two other long-time organizations that have also forgotten their “NEIGHBORHOOD MANNERS” on Fond du Lac Corridor, return for those two organizations.
