5-Year Signature Plan Benchmarking Conference

“Coming Soon”

EVENT ONE

5-YEAR SIGNATURE PLAN TALK/CHAUTAUQUA CONFERENCE

August 20–23, 2007
A tailored look at Milwaukee’s infrastructure for the development of proactive solutions to quality of life and economic development issues that stymies its largest population - People of Color and the Working Poor.

A preliminary A-SWOT/assets-strength-weakness-opportunity-threat of the 15 Aldermanic Districts that have many organizations seeking and receiving government funding on behalf of People of Color and the Working Poor.

The 18 CDBG/Community Development Block Grant Lead Agencies have a vital role to play in the sustainability of the city-wide neighborhoods.

The theme:

“Keeping it Real FOR Self-Sustaining Solutions”

“Creating an Infrastructure CULTURE that is Inclusive Of People of Color and the Working Poor”

The bottom-line conference is meant to bring state-of-the art information and up-to-date reports for our 5-year strategic planning. It is to include neighborhood stakeholders, practitioners, developers, investors, business owners, and researchers looking at specific findings and creating an Action Plan for the next 3-years as a piece of the solution-building.

It is to engage all Milwaukeeans - stakeholders, especially People of Color and the Working Poor.

It is to engage all who attend through dialog/TALK, problem solving and commitment.

It is to meet and greet with our out-of-city neighbors for partnership development; and, to find common grounds for mutual benefits.

All speakers are “practitioners” in their own right. Do not miss this conference.

FOCUS
We will take a

  • myopic look and examine the reasons for the Face of Poverty in Milwaukee
  • myopic look and examine government management by our elected and appointed officials
  • myopic look and examine Milwaukee’s infrastructure for causes that “do not” empower, connect, inform, allow planning and decision making for buy-in by its taxpayers.
  • To address the barriers and unemployment reasons for the Face of Poverty of People of Color and the Working Poor, Milwaukee’s majority population.
  • To inform and reform the Infrastructure of Milwaukee to allow all Milwaukeeans an opportunity to have better/best quality of life and economic development for sustainability.
  • To look beyond the City limits of Milwaukee to like demographics in other cities of Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois for economic development opportunities and partnerships.
