CN-CFNBA College Bank

Howdy!

This is our outreach to students in middle, high and college level. We consider it a pleasure but more an obligation that we provide experiences through bi-directional volunteerism - CN-CFNBA and students.

Public and Private
So when we contact the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, Board of MATC, Boards of Trade Colleges, UW-M Regents and staff members that represent their schools, we will request and volunteer for mutual benefits.

NGO Collaboratives
We have added the “NGO” component to connect and assist in the development of “Cultural Competent businesses. These are business unique to People of Color and the Working Poor that are intricately part of the culture, neighborhood and economic status of the neighborhood, e.g., Barbers and Cosmetologists.

It is part of our SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Growth areas for Parents and Guidance Educators

We are PRO Education.
We subscribe to Life-long learning.

We feel that ALL students should be exposed to college-level training. How much? It depends on the student. The goal should be: to go and excel to my potential.

The opposite is limited, marginal and too often bias.

We feel that Guidance Educators are not doing their job if they are not exposing students and parents to today’s array of options.

We are oppose to “dumbing down or watering down” options, due to students present or past environoment or projections.

We support school environments that raise the expectations and exposure of People of Color and the Working Poor families to what the marketplace offers.

We suggest that parents, students and guidance educators look at the myraid of avenues that the students of Milwaukeeans can explore and begin to map as careers in the global market.

It is a MUST that they are exposed as early as possible for awareness and exploration.

CN-CFNBA “NEW” Expansion into “Debate”

CN-CFNBA COLLEGE & PUBLIC DEBATE

MILWAUKEE — March 10, 2008 is a blessed day for Milwaukee students (old and young) and Milwaukeeans.

“Today we open the gates of thought, speech, argument, discussion, research, scholastic ability, contest, voting for public exchange and communication of ideas of thought in the public policy and marketplace arena.” “We are in dire need of a medium for connectivity that address issues by the citizenry on a regular basis that is primarily for middle and secondary-college students; and, adults” from Milwaukee, said Mary Glass, Chair/CEO.

It is a way of creating a NEW avenue of public discourse that will provide ideas from students, People of Color and the Working Poor.

CN-CFNBA COLLEGE & PUBLIC DEBATE is modeled in part after the Doha Debate and Oxford Union Debates.

A Motion/Issue is presented to the audience and four speakers argue on behalf or against the motion. The four speakers are split into: 2-for and 2-against. The Moderator will pose questions to the speakers on their positions, followed by Q & A - questions from the audience or general public - answers debaters.

Voting has a significant role in each debate.
The audience “vote” by existing the doors designated for ‘ayes’ and ‘noes’.
This follows the style of the British Parliament, which votes this way if it is necessary to “divide the House”.

The decision is posted via CN-CFNBA websites and other predetermined sites.

The student speakers are students selected from CN-CFNBA College Bank Group and selected by a jury of peers and by the Moderator FOR DEBATE. Other guest speakers are from a variety of disciplines, public and private sector. They are selected through referrals and the Moderator. The Moderator is Mary Glass.

To become a member of the CN-CFNBA College Bank Group, a BIO w/4 recommendations is required. Two of the recommendations must be from a teacher or academic liaison.

All questions, can be forwarded to: mgurbanicongroup@yahoo.com.

Debates and/or Discussions
The two types of debates are:

Public Business Meeting (includes the citizenry)
Scholastic Competition (only students)

During Kwanzaa, students will be given awards for the 2008 debate season .
