E-Recycling Facts

  • Recycling electronics allows their precious metals, glass, steel and plastics to be used again.
  • Disposing of electronics is hazardous to the environment as toxic materials such as lead and mercury enter land fills around our communities, possibly contaminating ground water.
  • It takes less energy to make recycled products from used electronics than new products.
  • Storage devices will be destroyed through electronically wiping or physically destroying the device.

EARTH DAY

April 22, 2008

Today we celebrate Earth Day.
Earth Day is a name used for two different observances, both held annually during spring in the nothern hemisphere, and autumn in the southern hemisphere. These are intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the earth’s environment.
o The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March equinox, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969.

o A second Earth Day, which was founded by US politician Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in the late 1960s, is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22.

Howdy!

This page will highlight CN-CFNBA Smart Growth Signature Plan (2005–2010) engagement in helping to make our environment more inclusive for all.

Enjoyment & Education
To draw attention to the beauty of earth and *what we must do to keep the beauty, we will produce the online journal, The Milwaukeean - Social Ecology.

We start with Earth Day for a Spring/Summer/ Autumn engagement. We especially seek the eyes, ears, hands, and legs of children with their parents, educators, environmentalists, gardeners, block clubs, business groups and the neighborhood at-large.
